Aims and Vision

A not-for-profit society bringing together imaging specialists with an interest in hybrid imaging and radionuclide therapy to improve patient outcomes, coordination of scientific and educational activities, promote professional practice standards and for advocacy of hybrid imaging via the following:

  1. Forum

    1. For exchange of education and world class CPD for imaging specialists in topics relevant to the various applications of hybrid imaging across various body systems.

    2. For collaboration of research activities across Australia and internationally. 

    3. Provision of training of junior imaging specialists to become world leaders in their fields.

  2. Advocacy

    1. Patients and community

      1. To provide understandable, accessible and up to date communication of the rationale, benefits/risks and emerging options for patients, families and support groups in areas such as cancer, cardiology, dementia and musculoskeletal medicine.

    2. Collaboration with non imaging specialties.

      1. To facilitate collaboration between hybrid imagers and other clinical or scientific medical specialties.

      2. To encourage development of improved techniques, imaging pathways and interpretation to improve patient outcomes.

    3. Government and funding groups

      1. To provide clinical and scientific expert consensus opinion as a stakeholder in issues relevant to hybrid imaging to federal, state or local government bodies.

      2. Facilitating non-government organisations to collaborate with hybrid imagers in development or application of emerging technologies.
